This is the final project of the semester. You will create a webpage that presents information about two countries and their economic policies. You will be graded on accuracy, thoroughness, and presentation quality. Follow the steps below:
ONE:
ONE:
- Select two countries to compare. Try to choose countries that have different forms of government or different economic systems. (Example: Sweden (constitutional monarchy), Saudi Arabia (Islamic absolute monarchy), United States (constitutional republic), etc.).
- Research four socioeconomic indicators for each country: total GDP, per capita GDP, economic growth rate, and unemployment. Include these somewhere on your webpage.
- "Just governments": Write at least one full paragraph describing the governments of the two countries you chose. (Questions to consider: What type of governments do they have? What are the goals of these different governments?)
- "Governments interacting with the economy": Research the monetary and fiscal policies of the governments you chose. You will need to visit government and central bank websites to discover this information. Write at least one paragraph for each country describing their monetary and fiscal policies (at least 2 paragraphs). (Questions to consider: How does each government try to manipulate the economy? Does each country have a central bank? Have the policies they've implemented proven successful? Do people in these countries support or oppose the government policies?)
- In conclusion, answer the following questions: Which country of the two you selected has implemented the most preferable economic policies? (Explain why). And... To what extent, if any, should governments try to manipulate the economy? (Give evidence and explanation to support your thoughts).
- Create a webpage using an online website builder (Weebly, Wix, Webs, Doodlekit, Squarespace, Etc.) to present all of the above information you have gathered for this assignment. This webpage MUST include: at least 3 images and at least 2 graphs/infographics.
- Cite all of the websites you used to gather information for this assignment by creating direct links to them on your webpage.
Submit this assignment by emailing a public link to your webpage to me by midnight on Sunday, January 18. Extensions available to those who request.
